Vince Ruane, a low-carbon consultant and sustainability pioneer, is dedicated to transforming the future of building design. His firm creates innovative products that help architects, building owners and homeowners optimise air quality, enhance comfort, and minimise energy costs with intuitive technology.

The Company’s first product, a smart windows system, improves internal air quality, reduces noise, and enhances environment control using natural air ventilation. The system leverages acoustic sensors and technology to automatically open and close windows, reacting to internal and external environmental factors.

The brief

Finding a distinctive, memorable, and resonant name.

Before the team could unveil its innovative new system, it needed a product name that would resonate with both technically-minded B2B customers, and generations of homeowners, ready to embrace the benefits of smart home technology. They turned to Fabrik, asking for our help in choosing a name that was simple, yet evocative, meaningful, and impactful.

The ideal title needed to encapsulate the product’s ability to improve health and comfort, reduce energy costs, and simplify building management with simple, intuitive technology. It also needed to align with product’s customer-centric and tech-savvy personality, positioning the brand as a leader in the world of forward-thinking design.

A powerful name for a transformative product.

We began with a fact-finding journey, identifying the unique selling points of the product, its intended audiences, and the competitors in the industry. From there, we agreed on specific naming themes, revolving around concepts of intelligence, health, safety, and sustainability. Collaboratively, we agreed to focus on evocative, descriptive, and hybrid names with a modern appeal.

Five initial names were shortlisted, all of which met with the company’s desire for a title that was short, simple, easy to pronounce, and unforgettable. Ultimately, Airifi a powerful hybrid name, emerged as the ideal choice. The title combines the fresh appeal of the word “air” – nature’s life source, with the suffix “ify” meaning “to clarify” and transform.

The title Airifi positions the smart window system as a leading solution for modern living. Combining evocative and functional elements, it aligns seamlessly with the brand’s values of sustainability, innovation, and user-centric design.

With this versatile name, Airifi is perfectly positioned to capture the attention of both B2B and B2C audience members. The title is fresh, globally recognisable, and easy to remember, conveying a clear message about the benefits of the company’s world-changing building solutions.
