Overview
The CityStarters team is the leading force behind student enterprise at City University, empowering and enabling students to become the start-ups of tomorrow. Located on the doorstep of Tech City, it provides events, competitions and business support designed to inspire and harness the entrepreneurial skills of a future generation. In partnership with Visa Europe Collab, [the event] ‘Beyond Plastic – Off the rack, On the road’ gave students the opportunity to explore the future of payments through a fun and innovative design process. Hosted across three days, the event culminated in live pitches, which saw the winning team being awarded £1,000 and the opportunity to have their idea developed into a potential product or service.
Outcome
To provide an inspirational working environment, we developed a creative backdrop for the event that included a life size retail shop, petrol station and supporting 3D props. Using a distinctive illustrative style, the fictional cityscape ‘Cardlessville’ provided a quirky and informal setting for students, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the creative thought process. Innovative printing with resourceful materials also meant props could be recycled for future events. The overall result ensured a fun and slick feel to the event, maintaining the high standards that is synonymous with Visa.
