National Grid infographics

Simplifying the Grid through tailored and targeted infographic design.
National Grid is an international electricity and gas company based in the UK and northeastern US. It plays a vital role in connecting millions of people safely, reliably and efficiently to the energy they need. It’s also one of the first places journalists contact when they require information about stories breaking in the UK which affect our energy consumption.
Fabrik works with National Grid to help decipher and present key statistics in ways that are easy to digest - using infographic designs. These included infographics demonstrating the demand for electricity during the 2014 World Cup, which showed when surges were likely to occur.
Another infographic design explained how energy consumption over the Christmas period compared in relation to the typical energy use of one Christmas tree. Did you know, for example, that a drop in temperature of just 1 degree increases demand equivalent to 56 million Christmas trees being lit?
Leading up to winter there are often stories about energy consumption and even what might happen if the lights went out. Fabrik was commissioned to create an infographic design which demonstrated how National Grid was equipped to deal with the energy challenge in winter 2015.
With each of these infographics, design agency Fabrik is presented with a range of statistical information. Our challenge is to turn those into images which are easy to understand. It’s a challenge we’re happy to rise to.
It’s a pleasure working with Fabrik on our infographics and I’ve had some really good feedback internally. The most recent graphic is a big hit – so thank you for all your hard work. Everyone’s really pleased.
